Residential buildings by the zoo
On Uerdinger Straße in Krefeld-Bockum, the project “Zooblick 60” (zoo view) is located directly opposite the municipal zoo. The mature neighbourhood is characterised by various parks and well-kept old buildings. Here we have planned a three-part ensemble with a total of 60 residential units in different sizes: one building lies by the road, another in the second row behind it. Both are accessed from the landscaped inner courtyard with play area, which is reached via a private access road. Semi-detached houses are planned in the third building complex.
In the architectural realisation with the office Konrath und Wennemar, we attach great importance to the harmonious integration into the existing buildings. Closely coordinated with the city’s design advisory board, the building has a gable roof facing the street that blends in with the surrounding buildings. The house in the second row has a modern pent roof. The façades with elements of typical local clinker brick are also harmonious and convey the quality of the properties. In this way, we combine the traditional character of the district with a modern, energy-efficient housing offer.
